Studio build 2024-25

A 10' x 20' detached art studio, designed and built by Joyce Campbell with the hands-on help of her husband, Jeremy Hansen. Sparked by a need for space and a desire to build something joyful in which to make joyful things, the studio is a celebration of creativity and resourcefulness. Constructed from a playful mix of donated, reclaimed, sourced, and new materials, it’s a unique, hand-built haven—equal parts workshop and wonderland—crafted with care, collaboration, and a dash of delightful weirdness.

Room with colorful tiled floor, unfinished ceiling, connected to outdoor space through a glass door, with walls painted yellow and multiple windows. Part of the ceiling has recessed lighting and wires hanging down, indicating ongoing renovation.
Backyard shed with metal exterior, featuring two tall windows, a glass door, a wooden deck with colored chairs, and fencing surrounded by trees and grass.

This project was partially paid for using a grant from RACC, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization connecting artists and creatives to opportunity and access by supporting the creative economy through funding and services in greater Portland, Oregon.
